California Court of Appeal
In re Marriage of Richardson, B214768
The child support portion of a default judgment in a divorce proceeding initiated by respondent-father is reversed where the trial court erred in concluding it lacked jurisdiction to award child support for the parties' minor child because the child's home state is Japan. None of the statutorily defined limited circumstances, barring California courts jurisdiction over child custody and support matters when California is not a child's home state, exist in this case.
