People v. Thorn, A121336

Conviction for first-degree burglary is affirmed where: 1) carports are contiguous to and functionally interconnected with the inhabited apartment building and carry a reasonable expectation of protection from intrusion, and thus do not fall outside the burglary statutes; and 2) the court did not err in its instructions to the jury on the burglary charges.
