California Court of Appeal

In re: Jaheim B., D053121

Juvenile court properly exercised its jurisdiction in removing an abandoned two-year-old from parental custody, even though California was not the child's home state. The court had emergency jurisdiction under the Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act, because the child was present in California when the neglect occurred and the court's action was necessary to protect him from both immediate and ongoing harm.
