Santa Barbara County Coalition Against Auto. Subsidies v. Santa Barbara County Ass'ns of Gov'ts., B209525

In an election matter in which defendant-county entity formulated a plan and proposed transportation-related ballot measure, grant of defendant's special motion to strike plaintiff-organization's complaint for unlawful advocating and spending of public funds for passage of the ballot measure is affirmed over claims of error that: 1) defendant was not protected by the anti-SLAPP statute because defendant did not have a constitutional right of free speech to engage in partisan electoral advocacy; and 2) defendant did not have a constitutional or statutory right to expend public funds for the purpose of influencing the outcome of an election.
