California Court of Appeal
Anderson, McPharlin & Connors v. Yee, B179662
Rules prohibiting fee-splitting do not apply to agreements between a partner and his own law firm. Therefore, judgment and award for plaintiff-law firm in a breach of contract case is affirmed where defendant-lawyer signed, and later breached, a partnership agreement requiring certain payments by him to the firm in the event he should leave the firm and take clients.
