Because the trial court short-circuited the proper procedure for a Wheeler motion in this death penalty case, the matter is remanded for a hearing to have the prosecutor explain race neutral reasons for each of his voir dire challenges. After hearing those reasons, the court must determine the validity of those challenges based on the entire record.
