Conviction for mayhem and unauthorized practice of medicine causing risk of harm to a patient is affirmed where the evidence was sufficient to support his conviction of mayhem, both pre trial and pro per representation were constitutionally effective, and the court did not have a sua sponte duty to continue trial.
