California Court of Appeal
IN RE RETIREMENT CASES, A097568, A097692, A097701, A097705, A097744, A097924, A098686
In consolidated cases regarding employee retirement plans, maintained under the County Employees Retirement Law (CERL), issue arose whether items of remuneration paid to employees qualify as "compensation." The trial court correctly ruled that CERL did not mandate that various items of remuneration that did not involve cash payments to employees had to be included in the calculations of "final compensation" for retirement benefits.
