California Court of Appeal
DAY v. ALTA BATES MED. CTR., A095702
Where an attorney made no showing that his services were either performed "at the request" of or were of "direct benefit" to a hospital (a lien claimant), he could not recover fees under quantum meruit against a hospital who may have received "incidental benefit" from his actions, and the hospital's lien claim will not be reduced by the amount of those fees.
