Because plaintiff did not obtain the relief he sought, and has not demonstrated that his efforts in his underlying case contributed significantly to the conferral of an actual benefit, an award of attorney fees under the "private attorney general" statute, Code of Civil Procedure section 1021.5, was properly denied.
