Re: Amendment to Appendix H to Part IV, South Carolina Appellate Court Rules
ORDER
The South Carolina Board of Paralegal Certification has requested the Court create an “Emeritus Status” for South Carolina Certified Paralegals by amending Appendix H to Part IV of the South Carolina Appellate Court Rules (SCACR). The request is granted.
Appendix H is amended to add new paragraph IX(G), which provides:
G. Emeritus Status. To be eligible for Emeritus status, a South Carolina Certified Paralegal must (1) be in good standing and at least 65 years of age or be permanently disabled; (2) have a total of five consecutive years as a South Carolina Certified Paralegal; and (3) no longer be employed in the legal field. Applications for Emeritus status must include a one-time fee of $75. Emeritus members may re-apply for active certification should they return to the legal profession.
This amendment is effective immediately.
