Re: Adoption of Rule 615, South Carolina Appellate Court Rules
ORDER
By Order dated November 16, 2022, this Court adopted a Pilot Program for the Designation of Secure Leave Periods by Lawyers. On June 19, 2024, the Court extended the Pilot for an additional two years.
Based on the success of the Pilot, and in accordance with the provisions of Article V, Section 4 of the South Carolina Constitution, the Court adopts Secure Leave as a permanent program in new Rule 615 of the South Carolina Appellate Court Rules. The procedures included in the June 19, 2024 Pilot Order are incorporated without change in new Rule 615. Previously adopted forms for use in the program are modified to refer to the newly adopted rule and are available on the Judicial Branch website at https://sccourts.org/court-forms/.
This order is effective immediately.
