KHARI SEKOU VARNER, Appellant, v. TOI BRADLEY; DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY SERVICES; BRIAN WHITE; YERIE WILLIAMS; ECCENECE LINO; ADRIAN SMITH; TERESA TIBBS; AND BRIANNA COMBS, Respondents.
ORDER DISMISSING APPEAL
This is a pro se appeal from a district court minute order denying a motion to disqualify the District Attorney as opposing counsel. Eighth Judicial District Court, Clark County; Mark R. Denton, Judge.
A review of the documents filed in this appeal reveals a jurisdictional defect. The right to appeal is statutory; where no statute or court rule authorizes an appeal, no right to an appeal exists. Brown v. MHC Stagecoach, LLC, 129 Nev. 343, 345, 301 P.3d 850, 851 (2013); Taylor Constr. Co. v. Hilton Hotels, 100 Nev. 207, 209, 678 P.2d 1152, 1153 (1984). As no statute or court rule authorizes an appeal from a district court's order denying a motion to disqualify counsel, this court lacks jurisdiction over this appeal. See Ciaffone v. Eighth Jud. Dist. Ct., 113 Nev. 1165, 1167, 945 P.2d 950, 952 (1997) (recognizing that relief from lawyer disqualification orders is available by writ petition, rather than appeal). Accordingly, this appeal is dismissed for lack of jurisdiction.
It is so ORDERED.1
