Cameron Tom-Ray ALLEN, Appellant, v. The STATE of Nevada, Respondent.
ORDER DISMISSING APPEAL
This appeal was filed by non-party and non-attorney Veronica Huerta-Lanza, as a “next-friend notice of appeal” on behalf of appellant, Cameron Tom-Ray Allen, who is represented by counsel. Appellant, through his retained counsel, filed a motion to strike “next-friend notice of appeal” as a rogue document and vacate docketing order. Respondent filed a motion to dismiss this appeal or, in the alternative, a non-opposition to the motion to strike. Appellant responded, through counsel, to the motion to dismiss.
A non-attorney may not represent any other person or entity in this court. Guerin v. Guerin, 116 Nev. 210, 214, 993 P.2d 1256, 1258 (2000). Though Ms. Huerta-Lanza does not claim to represent the appellant, her filing of the notice of appeal as “next-friend” and on behalf of appellant is the product of the unauthorized practice of law and fails to vest jurisdiction in this court. Id. Therefore, this appeal is invalid and we lack jurisdiction to consider the appeal. Accordingly, we deny the motion to strike, grant the motion to dismiss, and
ORDER this appeal DISMISSED.1
