STATE OF LOUISIANA v. JARED MARCUS WIGGINS
I agree that the defendant's bail in this case is constitutionally excessive. Because the defendant has no previous criminal record, the family expressed an ability to pay a bond in the amount of $75,000.00, and the dubious classification of the defendant as a “fugitive,” I would therefore find a more appropriate amount to be $100,000.00. See La. C.Cr.P. art. 316; State v. Ezidore, 26-10520 (La. 4/28/26), 432 So.3d 120; State v. Halverson, 21-01592 (La 12/21/21), 329 So. 3d 276.
GRIFFIN, J., additionally concurs and assigns reasons.
