IN RE: Stephen P. WRIGHT (2026)

ATTORNEY DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDING

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (“ODC”) commenced an investigation into allegations that respondent was charged with domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and with strangulation, and that he perjured himself during his trial. Respondent was convicted as charged after the trial. Prior to the filing of formal charges, respondent and the ODC submitted a joint petition for consent discipline, in which respondent admits that his conduct violated Rules 3.3(a)(1) and 8.4(a)(b)(c)(d) of the Rules of Professional Conduct. Having reviewed the petition,

IT IS ORDERED that the Petition for Consent Discipline be accepted and that Stephen Wright, Louisiana Bar Roll number 34164, be and he hereby is suspended from the practice of law for a period of one year and one day.¹

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that all costs and expenses in the matter are assessed against respondent in accordance with Supreme Court Rule XIX, § 10.1, with legal interest to commence thirty days from the date of finality of this court's judgment until paid.

1.   The parties have also proposed a two-year period of probation with conditions; however, the imposition of probation may be considered if and when respondent applies for reinstatement after becoming eligible to do so. In re: LaBruzzo, 24-0601 (La. 6/25/24), 386 So. 3d 669.
