IN RE: John C. ALEXANDER
Joint petition for consent discipline accepted. See per curiam.
The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (“ODC”) commenced an investigation into allegations that respondent engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation, engaged in criminal conduct, failed to properly communicate with two clients, held himself out as an attorney after he was placed on interim suspension, and assisted someone with a legal matter following his interim suspension, including accepting funds meant to pay legal fees. Following the filing of formal charges addressing some of the above misconduct, respondent and the ODC submitted a joint petition for consent discipline. Having reviewed the petition,
IT IS ORDERED that the Petition for Consent Discipline be accepted and that John C. Alexander, Louisiana Bar Roll number 26591, be suspended from the practice of law for a period of three years, retroactive to January 10, 2020, the date of his interim suspension.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that all costs and expenses in the matter are assessed against respondent in accordance with Supreme Court Rule XIX, § 10.1, with legal interest to commence thirty days from the date of finality of this court's judgment until paid.
Crain, J., dissents and would impose discipline prospectively only. McCallum, J., dissents and would impose discipline prospectively only.
