IN RE: Michelle Andrica CHARLES
ATTORNEY DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDING
The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (“ODC”) commenced an investigation into allegations that respondent, while actively suspended from the practice of law, performed numerous notarial acts and filed a petition in state court on behalf of a client. Prior to the filing of formal charges, respondent and the ODC submitted a joint petition for consent discipline in which respondent admitted that her conduct violated Rules 5.5(a), 8.4(c), and 8.4(d) of the Rules of Professional Conduct. Having reviewed the petition,
IT IS ORDERED that the Petition for Consent Discipline be accepted and that Michelle Andrica Charles, Louisiana Bar Roll number 30872, be suspended from the practice of law for a period of three years.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that all costs and expenses in the matter are assessed against respondent in accordance with Supreme Court Rule XIX, § 10.1, with legal interest to commence thirty days from the date of finality of this court's judgment until paid.
Given the Respondent's actions of engaging in the practice of law while suspended, the only reason I accept the joint petition for consent discipline is that the Respondent must re-apply to practice law.
PER CURIAM
Weimer, C.J., concurs and assigns reasons.
