IN RE: Richard D. LEIBOWITZ
Attorney Disciplinary Proceeding
Respondent, Richard D. Leibowitz, an attorney licensed to practice law in Louisiana, is currently the subject of an investigation by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel (“ODC”) based on his arrest for driving while intoxicated.
Prior to adjudication of the disciplinary charges against him, respondent and the ODC jointly filed a petition for respondent to permanently resign from the practice of law in lieu of discipline pursuant to Supreme Court Rule XIX, § 20.1.
Having carefully reviewed the pleadings, we will grant the petition and allow respondent to permanently resign from the practice of law in lieu of discipline.
DECREE
For the reasons assigned, the petition of Richard D. Leibowitz, Louisiana Bar Roll number 08289, is hereby granted. Pursuant to the express provisions of Supreme Court Rule XIX, § 20.1, Richard D. Leibowitz shall be permanently prohibited from practicing law in Louisiana or in any other jurisdiction in which he is admitted to the practice of law; shall be permanently prohibited from seeking readmission to the practice of law in this state or in any other jurisdiction in which he is admitted; and shall be permanently prohibited from seeking admission to the practice of law in any jurisdiction.
