ATTORNEY DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDING

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (“ODC”) commenced an investigation into allegations that respondent failed to render a periodic accounting to clients and failed to properly terminate the representations of his clients. Respondent failed to cooperate with the ODC in its investigation. Respondent and the ODC then submitted a joint petition for consent discipline, in which the parties stipulated that respondent's conduct violated Rules 1.5(f)(3) (failure to render a periodic accounting), 1.16(d) (obligations upon termination of the representation), and 8.1(c) (failure to cooperate with the ODC in its investigation) of the Rules of Professional Conduct. Having reviewed the petition,

IT IS ORDERED that the Petition for Consent Discipline be accepted and that Michael D. Bass, Louisiana Bar Roll number 27954, be and he hereby is suspended from the practice of law for a period of one year and one day. Six months of this suspension shall be deferred, subject to the condition that respondent must submit to an evaluation by the Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that all costs and expenses in the matter are assessed against respondent in accordance with Supreme Court Rule XIX, § 10.1, with legal interest to commence thirty days from the date of finality of this court's judgment until paid.
