DAMIEN WONG v. TAMARA THOMPSON (2026)

SUMMARY DISPOSITION ORDER

Self-represented Defendant/Counterclaimant-Appellant Tamara Thompson (Thompson) appeals from the October 15, 2024 Judgment entered in favor of Plaintiff/Counterclaim Defendant-Appellee Damien Wong (Wong), after a bench trial, by the District Court of the Third Circuit, North and South Kona Division (District Court).¹

Thompson raises no points of error on appeal, as required by Hawai‘i Rules of Appellate Procedure (HRAP) 28(b)(4), but contends that the District Court erred by: (1) failing to properly weigh evidence of Wong's negligence and its impact on her health; (2) ignoring the legal obligations of the landlord under state/local housing laws; and (3) demonstrating bias in favor of the landlord (Wong), thereby denying her a fair trial.

Upon careful review of the record and the briefs submitted by the parties, and having given due consideration to the arguments advanced and the issues raised, we resolve Thompson's contentions as follows.

Thompson does not cite to where in the record the alleged errors occurred or where in the record she objected or brought the alleged errors to the District Court's attention. See HRAP Rule 28(b)(4). Thompson did not provide this court with transcripts of the trial proceedings. See State v. Hoang, 93 Hawai‘i 333, 336, 3 P.3d 499, 502 (2002) (without transcripts, there is an insufficient record to review alleged trial court error); see also HRAP Rule 10(b).

Thompson fails to cite to the record, specifically or even generally, to support her claims of improper weighing of evidence, disregard of the law, and/or bias. On this record, we conclude that Thompson's contentions provide no basis for relief on appeal.

Accordingly, the District Court's October 15, 2024 Judgment is affirmed.
