Peters, 88 So. 2d 891, 899 (Fla. 1956) (“[A] criminal contempt proceeding is between the public and the defendant. It is not directly a part of the original cause. It involves punishment for an offense against the court itself as distinguished from the commission of an act in derogation of the rights of a party to the cause.”).
