MEMORANDUM OF DECISION ON APPLICATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER OF JAMES W. OLIVER, ESQ.
There is presently pending before the Connecticut Statewide Grievance Committee a complaint against James W. Oliver (hereinafter also called the “Respondent”), and there may be efforts to learn the name of a federal agent who may have been involved with the Respondent in matters that are subject to the Statewide Grievance Committee; and,
Because the disclosure of the name or the identity of this undercover, covert federal agent, as alleged by the Respondent, is likely to put his/her life and career in danger as well as compromise the national security of the United States and because whoever discloses the true identity of said agent will be subject under federal law to a fine and up to three years imprisonment, it is hereby: 1
ORDERED as follows:
1. The Respondent, Attorney James Oliver, and the Connecticut Statewide Grievance Committee, its staff and agents, will not disclose to anyone, including the general public or anyone else:
a) The actual name of the federal agent cited in the Respondent's motion. The name “Mr. X” may be utilized instead.
b) Any information or documents that could potentially identify said agent's real name including, but not limited to, his/her occupation, what agency employs him/her, his/her location (residence, office or place of employment), gender, age or race.
c) Any reference in any recording or document that contains the agent's real identity or identifying information as described in (b) above shall be redacted.
