ORDER OF AFFIRMANCE

Ignacio Ruelas-Ramirez appeals from a district court order denying a postconviction petition for a writ of habeas corpus filed on February 11, 2019. Eighth Judicial District Court, Clark County; Tierra Danielle Jones, Judge.

In his petition, Ruelas-Ramirez sought the application of statutory good-time credit to his minimum term. Ruelas-Ramirez also requested an evidentiary hearing.

The district found that Ruelas-Ramirez was convicted of first-degree murder for a crime committed in 2001 and he is serving a sentence of life with the possibility of parole after a minimum term of 20 years has been served. The district court concluded that because Ruelas-Ramirez was sentenced pursuant to a statute that requires him to serve a mandatory minimum term before being eligible for parole, see NRS 200.030(4)(b)(2), NRS 209.4465(7)(b) precludes the application of statutory good-time credit to his minimum term. The district court therefore denied Ruelas-Ramirez' petition. And because Ruelas-Ramirez' request for credit was straightforward in nature, the district court denied his request for an evidentiary hearing. The record supports the district court's findings, and we conclude the district court did not err by denying the petition or abuse its discretion by denying the request for an evidentiary hearing.
