Gregory Dean BARREN, Sr., Appellant, v. The STATE of Nevada, Respondent.
ORDER OF AFFIRMANCE
In his petition, Barren challenged the validity of his judgment of conviction. The district court denied Barren's postconviction habeas petition, in part, because Barren discharged his term of imprisonment in 1986. See Coleman v. State, 130 Nev. 190, 193, 321 P.3d 863, 865 (2014) (“[A] post-conviction petition for a writ of habeas corpus cannot be filed by a petitioner who is no longer under a sentence of death or imprisonment for the conviction at issue.”). The record supports the decision of the district court. Although Barren claims he is subject to lifetime sex offender registration, he fails to demonstrate he is under a sentence of imprisonment as required by NRS 34.724(1). Cf. Coleman, 130 Nev. at 195, 321 P.3d at 867 (concluding lifetime supervision is not a sentence of imprisonment because the person is not placed in a prison or other place of confinement and violations of the requirements of lifetime supervision are new criminal offenses). Because Barren fails to satisfy the imprisonment requirement of NRS 34.724(1), we conclude the district court did not err by denying the petition. Accordingly, we
ORDER the judgment of the district court AFFIRMED.
