KELVIN LANEIL JAMES, Appellant, v. WILLIAM A. “BILL” GITTERE, WARDEN, Respondent.
ORDER OF AFFIRMANCE
Kelvin Laneil James appeals from a district court order dismissing a postconviction petition for a writ of habeas corpus filed on March 6, 2025.1 Seventh Judicial District Court, White Pine County; Steve L. Dobrescu, Chief Judge.
In his petition, James alleged errors related to his prison disciplinary proceedings. The district court found that James’ petition did not allege a loss of credits or any other liberty interest. This finding is supported by the record.
James’ petition did not challenge his judgment of conviction, and he did not allege he forfeited credits as a result of the prison disciplinary proceedings. Therefore, his claims were not cognizable in a postconviction habeas petition. See NRS 34.720; NRS 34.724(1); Bowen v. Warden, 100 Nev. 489, 490, 686 P.2d 250, 250 (1984). We conclude the district court did not err by dismissing the petition. Accordingly, we
ORDER the judgment of the district court AFFIRMED.
Bulla, C.J.
Gibbons, J.
Westbrook, J.
FOOTNOTES
1. James’ petition was titled “petition for writ of habeas corpus (disciplinary).” The district court construed James’ filing as a postconviction petition for a writ of habeas corpus. James does not challenge the district court's construal of his petition on appeal.
