PEOPLE, Respondent, v. Gerald Frank STANLEY, Appellant.
In the above-entitled matter the court filed its decision on July 6, 1995, because of the following extraordinary and compelling circumstances:
1. The length of the record (5,115 clerk's transcript pages and 26,820 reporter's transcript pages).
2. The number of complexity of the issues presented.
3. The necessity to consider and decide numerous petitions filed by appellant, in propria persona, seeking to discharge appointed counsel.
4. The necessity to vacate the successive appointments of Richard J. Petersen, Michael Satris, Michael Millman, and the State Public Defender as counsel for appointment, and to find and appoint successor appellate counsel.
5. The delays inherent in successor counsel's needing to familiarize themselves with the lengthy record in this case and, as necessary, to prepare briefing and supplemental briefing.
SENANDER, Justice.
