PEOPLE, Respondent v. Jeffrey HAWKINS, Appellant.
In the above-entitled matter the court filed its decision on July 20, 1995, because of the following extraordinary and compelling circumstances:
1. The size of the record on appeal, which totaled approximately 8,000 pages.
2. The necessity to grant appellant, for good cause, numerous extensions of time within which to submit his briefs.
3. The necessity to grant respondent, for good cause, numerous extensions of time within which to submit its brief.
4. The necessity to consider supplemental authorities submitted by both parties. The final authorities were not submitted until November 28, 1994.
5. The number and complexity of the issues raised on appeal and the extensiveness of the briefing of the parties, which totaled approximately 450 pages.
6. The filing by appellant of a petition for writ of habeas corpus in connection with the appeal alleging approximately 35 claims for relief (S039950).
