Appellate Court of Illinois

People v. Lee, 1070335

Conviction for two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon is affirmed over claims that: 1) the trial court erred in admitting evidence of defendant's prior felony conviction after he refused to stipulate to that conviction; 2) defendant's multiple convictions for unlawful use of a weapon by a felon should be merged based upon the law applicable at the time of his offense; 3) defendant's sentence was excessive in light of mitigating factors; and 4) the trial court erroneously assessed defendant the Violent Crime Victims Assistance Fund fine. One of defendant's convictions for unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, the accompanying sentence, and his Violent Crime Victims Assistance Fund fine are vacated.
