  Part 9. Miscellaneous provisions.

  S 580-901. Uniformity of application and construction.  This article
shall be applied and construed to effectuate its general purpose to make
uniform the law with respect to the subject of this article among states
enacting it.

  S 580-902. Short title.  This article may be cited as the uniform
interstate family support act.

  S 580-903. Severability clause.  If any provision of this article or
its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the
invalidity does not affect other provisions or applications of this
article which can be given effect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this article are
severable.

  S 580-904. Effective date. This article takes effect on the
thirty-first day of December, nineteen hundred ninety-seven, and shall
apply to actions, proceedings, and accompanying documents filed and
orders issued on or before the thirtieth day of December, nineteen
hundred ninety-seven which substantially comply with the requirements of
article three-A of the domestic relations law and shall apply to all
actions or proceedings on or after such effective date.

  S 580-905. Repeals.  Article three-A of the domestic relations law is
repealed except as to pending cases maintainable under subdivision one
of section thirty-five of the domestic relations law; provided, however,
no new petition may be commenced under such article three-A.
  Amendments.
  Section four hundred eleven, subdivision (a) of section four hundred
thirty-nine, paragraph (a) of subdivision one and subdivisions two and
four of section four hundred forty, section four hundred forty-eight,
and paragraph (d) of subdivision one of section four hundred sixty of
the family court act; subdivision four and subdivision fourteen of
section one hundred eleven-b, paragraph f of subdivision two of section
one hundred eleven-c, subdivisions one, five, eight and ten of section
one hundred eleven-h, subdivision one of section one hundred eleven-k,
subdivision one of section one hundred eleven-m, and subdivision one of
section one hundred eleven-n of the social services law; paragraph one
of subdivision (a) of section five thousand two hundred forty-one, and
paragraph one of subdivision (c) of section five thousand two hundred
forty-two of the civil practice law and rules are amended to conform to
section 466(f) of the social security act, as amended by section 321 of
title III of the personal responsibility and work opportunity
reconciliation act of 1996 (P.L. 104-193).
