CALIFORNIA FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL CODE SECTION 2321 
2321.  The veterinarian shall receive a salary which is fixed by the
board of supervisors.  It shall be payable at the same time, in the
same manner, and from the same fund as other county officers are
paid.
